India House ~ An Art Tour

During my time in Canberra, I was commissioned to make a short documentary capturing the impressive art collection of the Indian High Commissioner to Australia, His Excellency Mr. Manpreet Vohra, and his wife Mrs. Naseem Vohra. This project was a gift to celebrate His Excellency’s 60th birthday, and to commemorate the couple’s final international posting before their retirement from public service at the end of 2023.

It was an absolute honour to be invited to stay in the Commissioner’s home and document their incredible personal gallery; each piece tells it’s own story from the country of which it was acquired, mostly from Mr. Vohra’s postings over the last 40 years.

Bob Hay: An Eclectic Collector

In late 2022, Canberra Potters received a generous donation of Japanese, Australian and New Zealand ceramics by local collector Bob Hay. Hay first became interested in Japanese ceramics more than half a century ago when, after taking up potting, he realised that he felt most in tune with the Japanese aesthetic; thus marking the beginning of his love affair with the wabi-sabi style of ceramics, and subsequently, an ever-growing collection of rare and beautiful pieces.

Amanda Poland asked for my help in making a short film about Bob and his collection, which was screened at the Canberra Potters Gallery in June 2023. Film available upon request due to privacy agreement.

The Garden Guardians

Having just moved cities and in search of community, I joined the “The Garden Guardians”, a group run by the local Canberra Co-Op to restore life to their rooftop garden beds above the cafe and bulk goods store in the heart of Civic. I learned so much about nature, food and the importance of being connected to our land, and this video was my way of capturing the heart of the group, whilst also providing the Co-Op with a useful resource for future grant applications and marketing.
